Five practical steps for poultry heat-stress management

A practical checklist for water, electrolytes, feeding time, airflow, and flock observation during hot weather.
Heat stress can reduce feed intake, growth, egg production, and flock comfort. Start by protecting water quality and availability: flush hot lines, add drinker space where possible, and monitor consumption through the day.
Shift more feeding activity toward cooler hours. Avoid unnecessary handling during peak heat, improve airflow at bird level, and watch for panting, wing spreading, crowding, or reduced movement.
Electrolyte and vitamin support can be useful around heat events when it is used according to product guidance. Keep accurate notes so the farm team can compare daily intake, mortality, and production indicators.
